A farmers plea caught our attention and we decided to intervene to help farmers of Borisinh village get back to what seems like a lost cause – to make farming a sustainable occupation. When Preshit Dalal, SIF volunteer met with the farmers, he realized that not just occupational assistance, but also guidance and support structure are needed by the village. With that objective, we approached Asia Initiatives(AI), well known NGO, that has championed the cause of women empowerment. With the support of AI, we have been able to create a model of rural development that instills sense of community among villagers, gets them back on their feet and guides them towards thinking long term.
